Biobor Pro Angler Wins Big...for the Third Time!

May 16, 2014

...Congratulates Defending TTBC Champion Keith Combs!

Combs gets ready to add
a third championship ring.
Biobor EB Pro Angler Keith Combs set records at this past weekend's 2014 Toyota Texas Bass Classic Championship Tournament, where the world's greatest in bass fishing battled it out for the top spot. The three day event took place May 9-11, at the historic Lake Fork, The Bass Capital of the world, with average bass of 5.02 lbs.

Keith Combs blew the tour-level world record, set back in 2000, by 26 lbs, 11 oz, with his total tournament weight of 110 lbs.

Combs had an amazing first day with three overs on Friday, resulting in the ATX Wheels Big Bass win, thanks to his 10-14 catch, and the heaviest single day weight of 42-0 helped him claim the Leer Heavyweight Award, a Leer Truck Cap.

Leading the Toyota Top Ten into the final day with 75 lbs, Combs started off slow, opening up the opportunity for anyone to overtake 1st. Big Russ Lane was the first to reach 90 lbs, and by 9 am had reeled in 96 lbs. Stetson Blaylock had 93 lbs, Combs with 88 lbs, and close behind was Randy Haynes at 87 lbs and Jason Christie with 85 lbs. It wasn't until 11 am when Combs was able to reach 95 lbs, and finally around noon things started to shift in Combs' favor.

For only the second time in his career, Combs broke through the century milestone at a 102 lbs and regained the lead with an 8-8 catch. Blaylock burst through the 100 lb mark at 102 lbs 8 oz, resulting from three catches within five minutes, for his first century club status, although it was still not enough to overcome Combs' 110 lb total weight. Russ Lane finished in third, just shy of the 100 lbs with 99 lbs 4oz.

For his first place win, Combs was awarded a Nitro boat/Mercury outboard/Dual Power-Pole/trailer (valued at $50,000) and $100,000 cash. Combs became the only angler to win the championship twice (2011 and 2013) and has now set the bar even higher with three overall wins, along with a new world record for the largest tour-level total weight.

"To win tournaments everything must go flawlessly from start to finish. I run Biobor in my tanks at every event, and it hasn't let me down yet...three world championship titles and counting."

Biobor EB is proud to sponsor Keith Combs and wish to congratulate his great achievements. Biobor EB and Combs look forward to many more in the future.
